On Friday U.S. District Court Judge T.S. Ellis accused Special Counsel Robert Mueller of prosecutorial overreach in his pursuit of former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort.
Judge Ellis gave a terse one-sentence admonishment to Mueller:
“I don’t see what relationship this indictment has with anything the special counsel is authorized to investigate.”
Ellis contended that Mueller abused unauthorized and “unfettered power” to threaten Manafort into turning against President Trump.
But, in another much less publicized legal setback for Mueller the next day, a second judge rejected the special prosecutor’s request for a delay in his case against three Russian companies and 13 Russian citizens.
One of the defendants in that case, Concord Management and Consulting, appeared through their attorneys, Eric Dubelier and Kate Seikaly and they made extensive discovery requests about Mueller’s investigation.
Mueller’s team made a legal argument to delay the arraignment of Concord Management and Catering scheduled for Wednesday but the judge rejected it in its entirety.
Everything about Mueller’s pursuit of President Trump has appeared to be more persecution than prosecution and the courts have taken notice and are now showing, through their rulings, that they have had enough, and are now slapping down Mueller’s un-Constitutional tactics.
Concord is exercising its right to understand the charges against it and the evidence that those charges are based on before entering a plea.
There has been absolutely no proof, zip, zero, nada, that Russians changed a single vote during the 2016 elections nor that they favored Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton in any substantive way.
In fact, Mueller’s refusal to investigate the Hillary Clinton campaign’s use of Russian intelligence supplied through Christopher Steele, a foreign agent, and that was used as the foundational piece of evidence in securing surveillance warrants against the Trump campaign – that continued into his presidency – does smack of Russian collusion by Clinton. Attorney Dan Abrams made the case for this as only a lawyer can.
If Mueller is charged with uncovering Russian collusion then why is he avoiding the evidence that is right under his nose?
This has been a witch-hunt targeting Donald Trump from the beginning and the courts are finally taking notice.
